Shift Spinal Health · Adelaide
Back and neck problems are rarely just one thing. Understanding what is actually driving your pain is the first step to changing it. Explore the conditions we work with, and how we approach them at Shift.
Where We Start
A condition is a starting point, not the whole picture.
The names below are useful for understanding what might be going on, but two people with the same label can have very different problems underneath. That is why care at Shift always starts with a Spinal Health Assessment, so a clinician can work out what is actually driving your symptoms before recommending anything.
Choose the area that sounds closest to what you are dealing with, or if you are not sure, start with an assessment and we will help you make sense of it.

Conditions we work with.
How we treat each of these depends on you. Based on what your assessment shows, your care may involve chiropractic care, the MT Core Smart Decompression, or both.
Sciatica
Pain that travels from the lower back through the buttock and down the leg, often a sign of nerve irritation higher up the spine.
Learn moreDisc herniation
When the softer centre of a spinal disc pushes against a nearby nerve, which can cause back, neck or limb symptoms.
Learn moreDegenerative disc disease
Age or wear-related changes in the discs that can bring stiffness, ache and reduced movement over time.
Learn moreSpinal stenosis
A narrowing of the spinal canal that can crowd the nerves, often felt more with standing or walking.
Learn moreFacet joint syndrome
Irritation of the small joints of the spine, a common source of localised back and neck pain and stiffness.
Learn moreNeck pain and cervical disc
Neck-related pain, stiffness or referred symptoms into the shoulders or arms, including cervical disc problems.
Learn moreHeadaches
Headaches driven by the neck, such as cervicogenic and tension-type headache, where caring for the neck can help.
Learn moreHow We Work
One approach, whatever the condition.
Whichever of these brought you here, the path is the same: understand the problem first, settle symptoms, and rebuild the support around your spine so the change holds.
Assess first
Everything starts with a Spinal Health Assessment. A clinician examines your spine, talks through your history and goals, and works out what is actually driving your symptoms.
Chiropractic care and Smart Decompression
Depending on what suits your case, your care may involve chiropractic care, the MT Core Smart Decompression, or both. The MT Core is a computer-guided table Shift was the first in South Australia to bring here. More on Smart Decompression.
Build strength alongside
Care here is active. Guided rehabilitation is part of the same program, phased in as you progress, using our rehab gym and app so the work continues between visits.
Track with the Shift Score
Your progress is measured with the Shift Score and re-checked every 4 weeks, so change is something you can see rather than take on faith.
